A Family Adventure by Chanju Mwanza is a bilingual children's book presented in English and Bemba as Ukusefya Kwalupwa. Created through the Zambian Narratives Project, the book was developed to help children encounter familiar Zambian life in both English and a national language. The story explores family vocabulary and challenges gender stereotypes through illustrations and scenes drawn from everyday life in Zambia. It is especially useful for parents, teachers and children who want to strengthen Bemba vocabulary while reading a story whose people and settings feel locally recognisable. The bilingual format allows adults and children to move between languages, making it suitable for homes, early-childhood centres, schools and Zambian families in the diaspora. The project was created in response to the shortage of locally relevant bilingual children's books and is part of a wider effort to keep Zambia's national languages visible to younger generations.
