A Zimbabwean by nationality, he hails from Victoria Falls and currently serves as a lecturer at Rusangu University in Monze, Zambia. He teaches Ndebele/Zulu languages, world history, peace studies, governance, and civic education.

Background & Education

Ignatius completed all his primary and secondary education in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) during the liberation struggle era (1965–1979). He holds a Certificate in Education (Secondary Level) from Gweru Teachers’ College (1983), a Bachelor of Education in History from Solusi University (2004), and a Master’s degree in Peace and Governance from the Institute of Peace, Leadership and Governance at Africa University, Mutare (2006).

Intellectual Interests

An avid reader in both English and Ndebele/Zulu, Ignatius engages deeply with literature on social history, development, politics, governance, economics, conflict resolution, religion, philosophy, African spirituality, geography, globalisation, African renaissance, poetry, fiction, and drama. His writing is shaped by continuous listening to the voices of students, youth, and adults across the gender divide.

Inspiration & Writing Philosophy

Ignatius writes what resonates with him personally, drawing inspiration from patriarchal figures in his family lineage and a strong desire to tell his own story. His work seeks to influence readers, contribute to peaceful resolution of societal challenges, and advocate for a more equitable and harmonious society. He values continuous reading, listening, and learning, while remaining open to diverse perspectives and constructive criticism.

Challenges & Perspective

Writing in a foreign language presents limitations to his self-expression, alongside challenges such as limited uninterrupted writing time and resistance from conservative literary circles. Nevertheless, he champions inclusivity, diversity of thought, and the recognition of African indigenous knowledge systems as valid and powerful sources of wisdom.

Hobbies & Personal Interests

Ignatius enjoys physical exercise (running, press-ups, Wonder Chair workouts), singing, listening to music, dancing, fashion and cultural regalia, crop and animal husbandry, architecture, sculpture, traveling, and interacting with people from diverse cosmopolitan backgrounds.
