About the Author

Colonel Florence Mulenga is an alumna of the Zambian Defence Services Command and Staff College. She holds a Diploma and a Master of Arts Degree in Defence and Security Studies from the University of Zambia, a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Zambia Open University, as well as a Certificate in Management and Administration from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute and a Protocol Certificate from ZIDIS.

Military Career

Colonel Mulenga was appointed Deputy Director of the Military Customs and Arts (MICA) Directorate in May 2016, and promoted to Director in June 2020. Before her MICA posting, she served as Gender Officer at the African Mission Force Headquarters in Somalia from September 2014 to April 2016.

Personal Interests and Entrepreneurship

Her hobbies include writing, growing roses, and pursuing theatre arts-related interests. She is currently developing her own media company, WIN Media Limited, which uses storytelling to move hearts and shape culture through books, theatre, food, fashion, and the arts in general. The company also focuses on training and shared experiences.
