About the Author

Clare Mateke is a dedicated mammalogist based in Livingstone, Zambia, with research interests spanning the distribution and ecology of bats, small carnivores, water birds, and moths.

Artistic Pursuits

Beyond her scientific work, Clare is also a talented fine artist who paints wildlife, portraits, and landscapes. Her art has been exhibited in Livingstone, Lusaka, and Victoria Falls.

Writing and Publications

She is co-author of "Vilengo And Mbusa: Towards an HIV/AIDS Free Youth in Zambia" and contributes regularly to the Zambezi Traveller on topics including wildlife, history, and Zambian culture.
