Author Spotlight: Bwalya Mubanga

Bwalya Mubanga is a Zambian-born educator, advocate, and father whose life has been profoundly shaped by the transformative power of community, faith, and purposeful mentorship.

Born in Mufulira, his early education sparked a passion for service, further deepened during his formative years at St. Francis Boarding School under the guidance of the Sacred Heart Brothers—an experience he describes as “the playbook for my life’s work.”

As a Religious Brother with the Congregation of Christian Brothers, Bwalya's commitment to social justice flourished through grassroots initiatives in Cape Town. Over the past decade, he has taught at secondary schools across Zambia, blending classroom instruction with basketball coaching to transform under-resourced teams into regional contenders. “Sports,” he emphasizes, “taught me that discipline and heart can outplay any disadvantage.”

His academic journey includes a BA in Physical Education and Civic Education from Kwame Nkrumah University, complemented by studies in Applied Social Studies and Project Management in Ireland. Now based in Dublin, his career spans education, social care, and family welfare advocacy, grounded in hands-on work with vulnerable communities in Africa and Europe.

A devoted husband and father of two boys, Bwalya believes parenting is “the ultimate coaching gig—you’re building resilience, empathy, and vision, one day at a time.”
