Hello! I am Sydney Muponda, a passionate educator, writer and advocate for literacy and development. My journey has been shaped by my love for storytelling and a deep commitment to making a difference in my community.

I want people to know that I believe in the transformative power of words and education. I am Zambian, currently residing in Lusaka, where the vibrant culture and rich history inspire my work daily.

Background/Education

Growing up in Zambia, I was surrounded by stories, tales told by elders, lessons learned from books, and the vibrant narratives woven through our communities. This foundation ignited my passion for education and writing.

I pursued my academic journey at the Zambian Open University, where I earned my Doctor of Philosophy in Literacy and Development. My educational background includes a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Arts with Education from Kwame Nkrumah University.

Inspiration

I write primarily about literacy, identity and the cultural narratives that shape our lives. Writing is my way of connecting with others, sharing insights, and advocating for change.

Challenges such as balancing professional commitments and facing negativity have strengthened me. Constructive criticism refines my craft while reminding me of the positive impact of my work.

Hobbies

When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading, gardening and traveling. Books open my mind, gardening grounds me, and travel offers fresh perspectives.

I am proud of my role as Managing Director at SOTRANE Publishers, publishing works that celebrate Zambian culture and literature. I am committed to mentoring young writers and supporting literacy initiatives across the country.
